150 Years Anniversary of Brisbane and Queensland

Queensland is celebrating its 150th Anniversary. To celebrate, I am placing some "Then" and "Now" pictures on my blog. Of course in 1969 we still had trams, but they were fazed out in that year.

How many dogs does it take to change a lightbulb?

1. Golden Retriever:
"The sun is shining, the day is young,
we've got our whole lives ahead of us,
and you're inside worrying bout a
stupid burned out light bulb?"
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------
2. Border Collie:
"Just one. And then I'll replace any
wiring that's not up to code."
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------
3. Dachshound:
"You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!"
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------

Pleeeeeeeze, let me change the light
bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh?
Can I? Pleeeeze, please, please, please!"
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------
7. German Shepherd:
"I'll change it as soon as I've led these people
from the dark, check to make sure I haven't
missed any, and make just one more perimeter
patrol to see that no one has tried to take
advantage of the situation."
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------

"I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing
off the walls and furniture"
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------
9. Old English Sheep Dog:
"Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't
see a light bulb!"
------------000000xxxxxx000000------------

the carpet in the dark."

no stinking light bulb."

------------000000xxxxxx000000------------
14. Poodle:

By the time he finishes rewiring the house,
my nails will be dry."

15. Afghan Dog:
"What's a light bulb? What day is it? Who am I"

Tschaikowski or Madness? You judge

I know I've done it before. I just love editing vision to the beat of music. So I recently recorded the 3rd Rugby League "State of Origin" match between Queensland and New South Wales. While I think Rugby League is not really football and played by dubious characters, and would not normally watch these games, it is interesting material for an editing job and what better music than the "Nutcracker" Ballet by Piotr Illjitsch Tschaikowski to have a little fun with.

Ok, ok, I've got it out of my system. I won't watch another one of those silly matches.

A little philosophy

I saw this in a shop window and thought... that's me...

My new boat

So here it is.

I just bought a new boat and decided to take 'er for the maiden voyage this past weekend.

This is my first boat and I wasn't quite sure of the exact Standard Operating Procedures for launching it off a ramp, but I figured it couldn't be too hard.

I consulted my local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "don't let the trailer get too deep when you are trying to launch the boat".
What am I doing wrong?
Well, I don't know what they meant by that as I could barely get the trailer in the water at all!

It was a long way home on foot. I am thinking, I might sell the boat...

The greatest Tennis Player in History

Roger Federer became tennis's greatest men's champion, watched by millions around the globe, to claim tennis's holy grail the world's number one tennis event, the Wimbledon crown.

It was also a record 15th Grand Slam title for the Swiss master, overhauling the total of Pete Sampras who was in the Royal Box along with fellow legends Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver.

Pete Sampras later said of Roger:" He is a great champion and a good guy. He is very humble, which I like." Pete later predicted that Federer, who is still only 27, can go and get more Grand Slam records. Winning the event brought Roger Federer back to No 1 position.

Well Colin, I hope you like that blog, just for you!

Big trouble on Home and Away

Hugo (Bernard Curry) and Xavier (David Jones Roberts) get into trouble with the police. Hugo lets his younger brother drive his car on open road even though he is too young to drive. Of course they get caught. That starts off a whole series of events...

(Bernard is our daughter Sonya's partner.)

Da saga continues on Monday night......
