Wisconsin Dells - Minneapolis

Today, we enter Wisconsin Dells, a popular spot for photographers. We'll take a boat trip in a unique amphibious vessel, then we're off to Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. Then we'll drive through St. Paul, Minneapolis' twin city, before reaching our overnight hotel in Minneapolis.

  1. Hi
Now you'll start seeing the REAL USA, MSP is the last of the big cities until LA! Enjoy the food delights of MSP. Have fun as now your USA tour really begins, just like from Sydney crossing the Blue Mountains or in Brisbane moving west from Toowoomba.
Have you got your cowboy hats yet? ha ha
    Cheers

  2. Wow, you are seeing a lot of our country. The Land of 10,000 lakes sounds like a great place to visit. I am going to have to look up these places for myself.

  4. COL HuggiB: eat ur heart out.
Buffet meals ---- ugh!!! People's sleeves and fingers dipping into communal dishes. No thanks.

As a city boy, I lerrrrve the US metropolises. New York is the greatest city on the planet.
Billy B and Diane: I have a terrible inkling that they rushed u2 thru' there in a day, day-and-a-half.

We had 10 days there in late 2009. So much to see and do, museums (for we Aussies, read Art Galleries) and all the rest. In between the Manhattan 10-day sojourn, 3 days touring Phillie, D.C., and Niagara Falls. The Falls 'Maid Of The Mist' thing under all the spray and mist in the blue ponchos is sooooo tourist-y, but had to be done and endured.
The Liberty Bell and associated Declaration of Independence sights in Philadelphia also very worthwhile.

But then up-country attractions such as Yosemite and the wine country, both out of San Fran., also extremely worthwhile.

  5. Ah Richard, you liveth!
NYC and LA are not the be-all and end-all of the planet called Earth! Try the South - Georgia, the Carolinas and Louisana - or for real USA - small towns in Kansas,Iowa and Nevada. Try Route 66 for the REAL spirit of the USA. I liked to meet the people in the USA of what we call here, "The Outback", maybe the Americans still refer to it as "Frontier land"? Wonderful people, the Yanks, when you meet them in small towns - I call them the "engine room" of the USA economy.
After all without them, the cities would be foodless.
Just wish that on my 6 trips to the USA, I never/didn't get to Arlington, Gettysburg, Philadelphia and Scottsdale (Arizona).
Wine country - why go to California? - the Barossa and Hunter are just as good?

I do agree on one thing - food! Unless the "Waldorf Astoria, NYC" and who can afford the prices there ? So it is "Houston, we have a problem" - but MSP does have great eating places.
Now I'll go and "eat my heart out".
Have fun BB and Diane, can't wait to hear all about the odyessy when you return.
