Grand Teton National Park - Jackson - Salt Lake City

Today, we head south into the magnifiscent Grand Tetons with saw-toothed, 4,115m high ridges crested with snow most of the year. Through "Western" Jackson with its wooden sidewalks and swing-door saloons, and we'll arrive in Salt Lake City, the centre of the Mormon religion,  in the late afternoon where we'll take a brief orientation drive before reaching the Red Lion Hotel for the night.

  1. Thanks for the update on your travels. I hope you walk into one of the bars/restaurants where the stool is a western saddle that you have to sit astride of as you drink a beer!

  2. I can't remember the name but it may be the one called the Cowboy Bar.

  4. Now there is a challenge Bill. Go to the bar that Denise has suggested and get a photo of yourself drinking a beer whilst sitting on a saddle!
Seems that you are having great weather for the tour so far!
You'll be pleased to know that now for a full week, Brisbane has had no rain - cold but sunny days.
    Cheers

  6. We loved the Grand Tetons. Afterwards we returned to Yellowstone to visit 'Old Faithful', who had just gone off, so we had to wait an hour for the 7.10 pm performance, so we had a bite to eat, settled down on the balcony of the hotel and waited patiently. The geyser didn't let us down, although 3 minutes late it showed off in it's full glory and I got it on my video, it was great.

I wish I could upload photos on the blog with this new iPad of ours but it can't be done.
    Cheers,
Bill and Diane in West Yellowstone another frontier town.

  7. Today I read in the paper a man has killed by a Grizzly bear in Yellowstone and his wife was hurt. So you are really lucky you still can write about it. Have a nice trip.
    Greetings, Marianne

  8. The Tetons are beautiful, I hope you enjoyed Old Faithful. The balcony of the lodge is a great place to see Old Faithful too.
