Brisbane Botanic Garden Mt Coot-tha

Last week Diane and I visited the Brisbane Botanic Garden at Mt Coot-tha. I've cut a couple of movie clips showing this beautiful garden. With apologies to Giacomo Puccini, for using the most famous melody in his opera Gianni Schicchi, Oh mio babbino caro..

We're having a couple of weeks rest from blogging activities and hopefully resume normal 'services' again in early September.

We are going on a trip

We are going with a group of friends on a two week 4-wheel drive bus tour of the Kimberley Region in Western Australia, from Broome to Darwin.

Next Tuesday 18th we fly from Brisbane via Sydney to Broome a flying time of 6 hours.

In Broome we pick up a 4-wheel drive bus that will take us for 14 days through some of Australia's most fascinating country through Gorges, National Parks on rivers, over mountains to Darwin.

On the 1st of September we'll fly back from Darwin to Brisbane, another 4 hours.

No doubt you'll read all about it on Diane's blog when we get back!

Winter in Brisbane

We complain about winter here in Brisbane. Ok, so it's 11 Deg. C. How about where these two come from? Brrrrrrr....

Berrinba Wetlands, Logan City

Diane and I, last week, investigated the Berrinba Wetlands, which was created by our local Council, the Logan City Council. It is fairly new and will look much better in about 5 years.

But for now it is a great place for families to go for walks, Picnics and for the kids to play.

Yesterday was Swiss National Day (1st August)

You know what they say: There's no fool, like an old fool!

We don't usually celebrate Swiss National Day, but yesterday we went with a group of friends for lunch at the Des Alpes Swiss Restaurant in Mitchelton. But before, I took my alphorn down from the wall and tried to belt out a tune. Not having done so for many years, I can tell you I'm rusty.

That'll do again for a few years,

Cheers,

BB

150 Years Anniversary of Brisbane and Queensland

Queensland is celebrating its 150th Anniversary. To celebrate, I am placing some "Then" and "Now" pictures on my blog. Of course in 1969 we still had trams, but they were fazed out in that year.
